Strength of democratic system linked with completion of tenures of elected govts: PM

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expresses his confidence that PML-N govt to accomplish all its development projects.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says the next general election would be held on time next year and political opponents should wait patiently till the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz completes its term.

In an interview with PTV, he said that the strength of democratic system is linked with its continuity and completion of tenures by the elected governments.

To a query, he expressed his confidence that the PML-N government would accomplish all its development projects.

The Prime Minister said the PML-N government would leave a better, prosperous and more secure Pakistan in 2018 when it completes its term.

To a question, he said with import of LNG, the gas deficiency would be overcome and added that abundance of gas will be available to the domestic, CNG, fertilizer and industrial sectors during the winter season.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said only solution to energy deficiency in the country is associated with the import of LNG which also helped in lowering the power prices in the country.

He said Pakistan has been fighting the biggest war against terrorism with its own resources and rejected the impression that its campaign against terrorism is being funded from abroad.

About relations with India, he said both nuclear-armed neighbouring countries have huge populations and the resolution of all outstanding issues should be reached at the negotiating table on the basis of equal respect.

The Prime Minister said the terrorists inside Afghanistan pose threat to Pakistan and no country other than Pakistan is more interested in peace and stability in Afghanistan as it has hosted about 3 million Afghan refugees on its soil.

Replying to another question, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said his priorities are to broaden the tax base, abolition of culture of automatic weapons, further improvement in health and education sector and further streamlining of working of the Government.

He said there is highest rate of consumer growth in Pakistan in the world.

He said the country’s exports are increased by twenty-five percent in the first quarter of current financial year.

The Prime Minister said efforts have been made to address ills of Pakistan Steel and PIA.
