Zimbabwe army takes control of Harare

The military spokesman said President Robert Mugabe and his wife are under custody.

In Zimbabwe, the army has seized power in capital Harare.

The military spokesman Major General S.B. Moyo said in speech on State Television that action in is being taken against criminal elements around President Robert Mugabe.

He said Mugabe and his wife are under custody.

The military also arrested the country Finance Minister.

Earlier, Zimbabwean soldiers and armored vehicles blocked roads to the main government offices, parliament and the courts in central Harare.
