KARACHI: Mahira Khan speaks about her upcoming film Verna on a local TV morning show. She also said that issues like rape are usually portrayed with an angle of love in films which is wrong. There is “no nice way” of going about it, Mahira added.
Mahira Khan plays a rape survivor in the upcoming Shoaib Mansoor directorial.
She said that our ideas about rape and sexual harassment are too warped stating that if you feel something that happened [with you] wasn’t right, then it is probably not right.
She further said that if someone spends their entire life in an environment where sexual harassment is normalised, their idea of right and wrong also changes.
Mahira also said that films and morning shows have a huge audience, and hence are great mediums to spread awareness about these issues.
