Afghan President vents out his frustration over Pakistan

KABUL – The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday warnedPakistan of the consequences for supporting the illegal armed groups.

Speaking during a consultative conference on peace in Kabul, PresidentGhani said supporting the illegal armed groups is like growing up snakes upin own sleeves, Khaama Press has reported.

He said the Afghan government and nation extends the hand for peace toPakistan insisting that supporting the illegal armed groups is like growingsnakes up in own sleeves.

President Ghani also called on the Taliban group to adopt the peacestrategy and said the group should participate in intra-Afghan peace talksif they consider themselves Afghans and refrain from such acts that handover the authorities of the country to the foreigners.

He also added that Afghanistan is not having the intention to occupy thehome of the others but want to live with dignity in their own homes.

President Ghani once again called upon Taliban leaders not to surrendertheir fate into the hands of the neighbors, insisting that the neighborsnever support peace.

This comes as the Afghan officials have long been insisting that theongoing war and violence in the country has direct links with the safehavens and leadership councils of the Taliban and the notorious Haqqaniterrorist network based in Pakistan.

The issue of the sanctuaries of the terror groups remaining intact in thePakistani territory has also resulted into deteriorating relations betweenIslamabad and Pakistan as the US officials have long been saying that theTaliban, Haqqani network, and other groups’ leaders have freedom of actionin Pakistan besides their sanctuaries have remained intact during theoperations.

However, the Pakistani officials insist that the country’s forces haveacted against all armed groups without any distinction.
