China using state of the art fabricated fortifications for Army at borders: Indian intelligence report

NEW DELHI – An intelligence note accessed by India Today shows that Chinesetroops are erecting structures near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with anew type of fabricated fortification.

According to Indian intelligence agencies, they are being developed by theDefence Engineering Research Institute under the Academy of MilitaryScience (AMS) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and have beendistributed to the frontier defence troops.

The new fortifications are reportedly suitable for mountainous areas thathave poor road conditions or are almost inaccessible by large machines.Sources say this is an indication of China’s aggressive stance againstIndia.

READY TO BUILD

The new fortifications aid the troops to quickly erect occasion-tailoredfortifications or build well-designed battlefield engineering supportsystems.

It takes only a few hours for a platoon to use these fabricatedfortifications to build an advance commanding post for a division orbrigade in a matter of a few hours.

The report assumes significance as the Indian and Chinese armies wereinvolved in a 75-day face-off at Doklam on the Sikkim-Bhutan border.

These attempts by the PLA to build roads and fortified structure are tokeep India on edge.

So far the status quo has been maintained by the Indian Army and theIndo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) who have stalled advances by the Chineseinto the area that India claims as its own.

Sources say the Chinese also aim to build fortified structure with theintention of marking the territory as its own.
