KABUL – At least fifteen militants hailing from Tajikistan were killed werekilled in a series of airstrikes conducted in northeastern Badakhshanprovince of Afghanistan, Khaama Press has reported.
According to the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military, the Afghan AirForce carried out a series of airstrikes against the militants hideouts inJurm district using the A-29 planes.
A statement by the Shaheen Corps said at least fifteen militants werekilled and eleven others were wounded in the airstrikes.
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgentshave not commented regarding the report so far.
Badakhshan is among the remote provinces located in the northeastern partsof the country where the anti-government armed militants are activelyoperating in some of its districts.
Both the Taliban insurgents and foreign militants hailing mainly from theCentral Asian states are conducting insurgency in the ranks of the foreignterror groups in this province.
The Afghan national defense and security forces continue to theiroperations against the militant groups which are attempting to expand theirfoothold in the key northern and northeastern provinces.
