ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal has said thatPakistan is keeping an eye over the rising nexus of India and Israel.Israeli PM Netanyahu has arrived in New Delhi and has signed multiple dealswith his Indian counterpart and vowed for close counter terrorism anddefence cooperation.
Israeli PM in India had earlier used harsh words against Hafiz Saeed andvow to stand with India in catching the culprits of the Mumbai attackswhich India blames on JuD Chief Hafiz Saeed.
He further said on Tuesday that India has violated the ceasefire agreementmore than 100 times in 2017, making the entire situation quite alarming forPakistan.
The foreign office spokesman was speaking to Hamid Mir in Geo Newsprogramme ‘Capital Talk’, where he responded to a question pertaining toback door diplomacy keeping in view the terse relations between theneighbouring countries.
Dr Faisal said that Pakistan cannot ignore the situation at the Line ofControl, giving the example of the recent loss of lives in the past fewdays.
The FO spokesman said that Pakistan is keenly observing the budding nexusbetween India and Israel, as the two countries edge closer towards on afree trade pact, which will likely include defence cooperation.
Israel has been one of the biggest defence partner of India and India hasbeen buying weapons worth one billion US dollars annually which is likelyto be enhanced further in coming days.
The foreign office spokesman welcomed the statements given earlier byDepartment of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs PrincipalDeputy Assistant Secretary Ambassador Alice Wells.
Wells earlier said that the US seeks to move towards a new relationshipwith Pakistan, based on mutual interest in realising a stable andprosperous region.
Dr Faisal Javed said that the US diplomat’s statements are in accordance tothe United Nations charter, respecting sovereignty of other countries andnot interfering in their personal matters.
On Jan 11, the Pakistan Foreign Office said it was in talks with the UnitedStates over matters of mutual interest, including security assistance, butit was too soon to reveal more at this point in time.
In his briefing last week, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisalsaid the two countries were in talks over matters of mutual interest,including security assistance, details of which cannot be revealed to mediajust now.
