PESHAWAR – People from different walks of life in Bajaur Agency havewelcomed passage of a bill by the National Assembly to extend jurisdictionof the Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court to FATA.
Talking to Radio Pakistan Correspondent in Bajour Agency, they termed it asbeginning of a new era for tribesmen.
PML-N MNA from Bajaur Agency Shahabuddin Khan said extension of thesuperior courts’ jurisdiction to FATA was the long standing demand of thetribesmen.
JI local chapter Chief Qari Abdul Majeed said approval of FATA bill by theNational Assembly is truly a remarkable step toward provision of judicialand basic rights to the people of tribal areas.
PTI senior vice president Nawabzada Jalaluddin Khan said the step will helpovercome problems of the tribesmen.
Social rights activist Muhammad Ayub Khan said it will not only ensurespeedy justice to the tribesmen but also improve socio-economic conditionof people in tribal areas.
Meanwhile, people have held several processions to celebrate the move bythe National Assembly.
