Israeli PM Netanyahu to be given exceptional welcome in India by friend Modi

NEW DELHI – After his mega roadshow with Japanese premier Shinzo Abe here,Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take his Israeli counterpart, BenjaminNetanyahu, on a similar trip in the city on January 17, The Hindu hasreported.

The Prime Ministers will travel in an open jeep from the airport to theSabarmati Ashram following Mr. Netanyahu’s arrival at 10.30 a.m. The civicbody is decking up the route.Schedule of events

“Mr. Modi will land in the city early in the morning and subsequently, theIsrael Prime Minister with his delegation will land at the airport, whereMr. Modi will receive them,” a senior State government official said.“After a brief halt at the airport, both dignitaries will embark on theroadshow in an open jeep.”

Mr. Modi will take Mr. Netanyahu around the ashram and Mahatma Gandhi’scottage. Both would later inaugurate a new incubation and start-up supportcentre, iCreate, set up with Israeli assistance. More than 1,000 delegatesfrom industry and business would be present.

In the afternoon, both leaders would reach Vadraj village in Sabarkantha inNorth Gujarat where a centre for excellence for vegetable farming had beenset up with Israel’s help. Mr. Netanyahu will inaugurate another centre ofexcellence for date farming in Kutch.

“We have three events during Israel Prime Minister’s day-long visit to theState,” the Gujarat government official added.

In 2014, Chinese President Xi Jinping became the first foreign dignitary tovisit Mr. Modi’s home state. In Ahmedabad, Mr. Modi and Mr. attended avariety of events.

Mr. Shinzo came to Ahmedabad to lay the foundation stone for the bullettrain project.
