ISLAMABAD – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has on Thursdaysubmitted its report in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan in which it hasbeen told that former Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwarhas not escaped abroad.
The apex court conducted a suo moto hearing of case pertaining toNaqeebullah Mehsud’s assassination in Karachi and gave a ten-day deadlineto the authorities to nab Rao Anwar.
Sindh IG AD Khawaja and Director General (DG) Civil Aviation Authority(CAA) were present during the proceedings.
Intelligence agencies have been directed by the SC to cooperate with SindhPolice to arrest the former SSP. Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar remarkedthat the allegation of Naqeeb’s murder is in fact against the state due tothe alleged involvement of police official.
The CJP expressed dissatisfaction over the efforts of concerned authoritiesin detaining the ex-SSP. Justice Saqib Nisar further said that it would bebetter for Rao Anwar if he surrenders.
Mehsud, a 27-year-old hailing from South Waziristan, was gunned down onJanuary 13 in Shah Latif Town by ‘encounter’ with a police team headed byRao Anwar, however; preliminary probe suggest that Mehsud was killed incold blood and had no terror links.
