Senate Standing Committee on Finance was informed in Islamabad Wednesdaythat Federal Board of Revenue is taking concrete steps to map individualsas well as entities to identify maximum numbers of taxpayers and bring theminto tax net.
Senator Saleem Mandviwala chaired the meeting. The meeting was informedthat FBR is maintaining close liaison with National Database RegulatoryAuthority for identification of potential but un-registered taxpayers.
The meeting was further informed that so far mapping work of over 500commercial plazas has been completed to identify more taxpayers whereas innext phase housing schemes would be mapped for the purpose.
He said so far 33,000 notices have been issued for enforcement of taxreturns while 20,000 un-registered individuals have been identified fromFBR’s tax withholding portal for bulk registration.
