*KABUL – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi phoned President Ashraf Ghanion Wednesday to share his condolences with the Afghan government in thewake of recent attacks in Kabul and said his country was ready to help withthe treatment of victims, TOLO News has reported. *
Modi also discussed the issue of insurgent safe havens in the “neighboringcountry,” Ghani’s office said in a statement.
“Modi has strongly condemned the attacks in Kabul and other parts of thecountry that killed and wounded many Afghans,” the statement read, addingthat the “Indian Prime Minister told President Ghani that there are safehavens and training centers of terrorists in our neighboring country whichisequipping (insurgents) to launch such terrorist attacks.”
He also emphasized the need for talks over the elimination of safe havensand said “the serious combat(mission) against this must continue,” thestatement read.
Modi meanwhile said India is ready to help Afghanistan treat thosewounded in recent attacks and “stands with the people of Afghanistan.”
In the meantime, Ghani thanked Modi for his support and called “India thereal and honest friend of thepeople of Afghanistan,” read the statement.
He also praised Modi for his view of the region and said “the time has cometo act to isolate countries that support terrorists.”
