ISLAMABAD – National Database and Registration Authority has informed theSupreme Court that software enabling overseas Pakistanis to cast theirvotes will be available for use in April this year.

This was informed by Chairman National Database and Registration AuthorityUsman Mobin during hearing of a case in Islamabad on Monday.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar heard the case andNADRA and the Election Commission of Pakistan for their efforts to developa voting system empowering overseas Pakistanis to vote in general elections.

Usman Mobin told the court that the matter to develop a software has beenbrought under discussion with the ECP and work is underway in this regard.

The Chief Justice said that NADRA and the ECP should sit together and giveoverseas Pakistanis the gift of voting ability.

He instructed NADRA to furnish in court a progress report during the case’snext hearing in a month’s time.
