TEHRAN: General Mohammad Pakpour head of Iran Revolutionary Guards forcehas said that at least three of its soldiers were killed and 16 Daeshmilitants were also arrested in clashes in the south of the country onSaturday.
He added that the terrorists group was planning to carry out attacks in theborder towns and in other parts of the country.
Iranian media reported that the Daesh militants had infiltrated fromwestern Iran’s border with Iraq.
Iran is one of the main international backers of the Syrian regime and hassent military advisers and thousands of “volunteers” to battle Daesh inboth Syria and Iraq.
Earlier, in Last June, Daesh claimed responsibility for two attacks onIran’s parliament and the shrine of revolutionary leader Ayatollah RuhollahKhomeini that killed 17 people and wounded dozens.
