Tehran – The Military measures in Syria should not damage the Astana peacetalks, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqerisaid.
Baqeri made the remarks Sunday in a phone conversation with Chief of theGeneral Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces General Hulusi Akar.
He also underlined maintaining territorial integrity, independence andsovereignty of Syria.
These measures should not pave the way for the enemies, especially the USand its allies, to achieve their goals.
Avoiding any imminent damage to Syrian people in operation zones is also ofimportance, he added.
Meanwhile, Akar pointed to confronting terrorist groups in Afrin,northwestern Syria as main reason behind Turkish forces attack on thisregion.
Turkey respects territorial integrity of Syria and will comply with itscommitments under trilateral talks between Iran, Turkey and Russia, he said.
Turkish Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces announced on Saturday that theoperation in Afrin was performed against the Syrian National DemocraticAlliance and Syrian Democratic People’s Party.
