KABUL – Dr Abdullah Waheed, Afghan diplomat in Karachi has been reportedlykilled in the Kabul Intercontinental Hotel attack by the Afghan Taliban,Pajhwok news has reported.

It was also reported that Five people were killed and 10 others injuredduring militants attack on Kabul intercontinental Hotel on Sunday, theMinistry of Interior (MoI) said.

MoI spokesman Najibullah Danish told reporters at the site of attack thatat least 100 foreigners had been rescued from the hotel. He added the deadwere civilians but three security officials were among the injured.

He said security forces had cleared major part of the hotel and the sixthfloor was being cleared. The fire brigade team had arrived at the site andengaged controlling he fire.

He said security forces had eliminated two attackers and one or two moreattackers were probably still resisting at the sixth floor.

The attack was launched at around 7:00pm last night and continued until now.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. Kabulintercontinental hotel is a place for mainly foreign and high profileguests.
