NEW DELHI: Ministry of External Affairs today summoned the Pakistan’sdeputy high commission to convey its concern over the incidents ofceasefire violations on the Line of Control and International Border (IB),reported ANI.
“The government conveyed its grave concern to the deputy high commissionerof Pakistan Syed Haider Shah at the continued ceasefire violations and”deliberate” targeting of innocent civilians by Pakistan forces,” theMEA said.
“Pakistan was called upon to adhere to the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding formaintaining peace and tranquillity along the Line of Control and theInternational Boundary,” the ministry added.
Earlier today, Pakistan had summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P.Singh to condemn the “unprovoked ceasefire violations” by Indian forcesalong the International Border in Sialkot Sector, that left one civiliandead and injured nine others.
At least 11 civilians were injured today in various areas of Jammu andKashmir as Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control.
Two civilians were injured in the ceasefire violation in Ramgarh sector,five in Hiranagar sector in Kathua and four in RS Pura sector in the Valley.
The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel also launched a massiveretaliatory firing.
This is the second consecutive day when Pakistan Rangers heavily shelledcivilian areas and border outposts.
