Pakistan raises concerns over rise of Al Qaeda, IS in India

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal has saidthat the FO has serious concerns over reports of Indian nationals joiningthe al Qaeda terrorist organisation.

Faisal, speaking during the weekly media FO briefing on Friday, said thatthe recent emergence of the terror outfit Islamic State (IS) in India,proves that terrorism has no roots.

He said that the recent meetings between the United States (US) officialsand Pakistan were aimed at finding common targets in this regard; addingthat the meetings continue which shows that there is a lot left to achieve.

Dr Faisal said that Pakistan is highlighting the issue of Afghan soil beingused against Pakistan, with the Afghanistan government adding that IS,Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar among other terroristgroups have safe havens in Afghanistan.

He said that full cooperation of countries in the region is needed in orderto deal with this imminent threat.

Dr Faisal further said that Indian army chief’s highly provocativestatement proved that the country has a war-mongering attitude.

He said that such irresponsible statements by Indian officials arethreatening the regional peace.

The FO spokesperson said that the Indian deputy high commissioner has beensummoned on recent ceasefire violations and martyrdom of Pakistani soldiers.

Referring to the involvement of Chinese nationals in ATM scam, he said thatan investigation regarding the incident was underway but all of the Chinesenationals cannot be barred from entering the country over a few unpleasantincidents.
