3 Police officials arrested in Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case

KARACHI: Three police officials allegedly involved in Naqeebullah Mehsud’sstaged encounter have been arrested by the authorities on Monday.

Investigation officer Abid Qaimkhani confirmed that three officials,identified as constables Ali, Shafiq Ahmad and Ghulam Nazil, have beenarrested by the authorities.

The prime accused in Naqeebullah’s alleged encounter, Rao Anwar, remains atlarge, while raids in various parts of Sindh, Balochistan andKhyber-Pakhtunkhwa are being conducted to arrest the former SSP.

On January 31, three arrested police officers, ASI Allahayar, policemenMohammad Iqbal and Arshad Ali, were identified by eye-witnesses when theaccused were brought at the court of judicial magistrate Malir for identityparade.

The 27-year-old hailing from South Waziristan and residing in Karachi since2008, was allegedly apprehended by police in Karachi on January 2, 2018,and was killed on January 17 in a controversial encounter by a police teamheaded by Rao Anwar in Karachi.
