WASHINGTON: Pakistan and United States have underscored the need to joinhands for sustainable peace and prosperity in the south Asian region.
The understanding came during meeting between Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbaland US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan in Washington.
They discussed entire spectrum of bilateral relations and regional issues.
The Interior Minster apprised the US deputy Secretary of State ofPakistan`s achievements against terrorism.
Ahsan Iqbal said after strenuous efforts and unprecedented sacrifices,peace and economic stability has been restored in the country.
He said fighting terrorism is part of National Action Plan which waschalked out keeping in view national peace and prosperity.
He stressed that peace in Afghanistan is inevitable for peace in Pakistan.
He said both Pakistan and United States should work together for peace inthe region.
John J. Sullivan said cooperation between Pakistan and United States ismust for peace and stability in the region. – APP
