ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Jordan have agreed to bring greater focus onenhancing bilateral trade and investment relations, to make the bilateraltrade currently at 75 million dollars commensurate with the excellentexisting political ties.
The understanding came at a meeting between Prime Minster Shahid KhaqanAbbasi and King of Jordan Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein in Islamabad onThursday.
The one on one meeting was followed by delegation level talks between thetwo sides which reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations andexchanged views on ways to further expand these relations in a variety offields.
The two leaders reviewed regional situation, with particular focus on theMiddle East in the aftermath of recognition of Jerusalem by Washington asthe capital of Israel.
The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s unequivocal support for the justcause of Palestine and reiterated Pakistan’s rejection of the US decision.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also briefed the visiting dignitary on the currentsituation along the LoC, Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and itscommitment towards regional peace and stability.
King Abdullah II thanked the Prime Minister for the warm welcome accordedto him and his delegation.
Earlier, on arrival at the PM office, a formal reception in honor of KingAbdullah-II was held.
On the occasion national anthems of both the countries were played.
A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan armed forces presented guard ofhonor to the Jordanian King.
A formation of three JF-17 Thunder Aircraft presented salute to the royalguest.
