ISLAMABAD – The 208th corps commanders’ conference chaired by Chief of ArmyStaff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday reviewed the geostrategic andsecurity environment, especially in the context of US-related policies forthe region, according to a statement issued by Inter Services PublicRelations (ISPR).
The top military commanders discussed the progress on Operation RaddulFasaad and increased Indian ceasefire violations (CFVs) in the meeting atthe General Headquarters (GHQ).
The forum reiterated that gains of years-long counter-terrorism effortsshall be consolidated to achieve enduring peace and stability both forPakistan and the region. The meeting concluded thatnationallink> interest shall be kept at the premiumwhile cooperating with all other stakeholders for regional peace andstability.
General Bajwa reiterated that the Indian ceasefire violations along theLine of Control and the Working Boundary are detrimental to peace; however,these or any Indian misadventure shall be responded effectively.
The ISPR said that India’s ceasefire violations were a vital part of thecommanders’ discussion.
In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 190 ceasefireviolations along the LoC and the Working Boundary to date, resulting in thedeaths of 13 innocent civilians and injuries to 65 others, according to thelatest foreign ministry data.
It said the “unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India” hadbeen continuing since the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1,970ceasefire violations.
