LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has again surprised all after itannounced support from the 8 Independent FATA Senators.
PPP has claimed that the party have support of eight independent senatorselected from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) for the slot ofchairman and deputy chairman senate of Pakistan.
The announcement came after a meeting between PPP leaders Dr Qayyum Soomroand Senator Saleem Mandviwala and the independent FATA senators.
The private news channel reported that FATA senators agreed to support PPPfor Chairman and Deputy Chairman slot but in return it had to play role ingiving the rights to the tribal people.
Earlier on Monday, Mirza Afridi, on the four elected senators reportedlyjoined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
In the Senate polls on Saturday, PML-N-backed independent candidatesemerged as the largest party in the Upper House of Parliament.
The party bagged a total of 15 Senate seats across the country, accordingto unofficial and unverified results, taking its total strength in the104-member Senate to 33.
Despite the PPP’s decline in Senate to a total of 21 seats, the party isaiming to take the slots of chairman and deputy chairman with the help ofallies and independents.
