Sikh students group held March in Jhalnadar in support of Kashmiri brothers

SRINAGAR – A Sikh students’ group called Punjab Students Union held aconvention and a march in Jalandhar city of Indian Punjab to highlight theKashmir dispute and in support of the Kashmiris’ right toself-determination, Radio Pakistan has reported.

In Geneva, speakers at an event held on the sidelines of the 37th sessionof the UN Human Rights Council said that the Kashmir dispute had resultedin massive internal and external displacement of the Kashmiris.

In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC)Syed Ali Gilani has said that the Kashmiri political prisoners are beingsubjected to solitary confinement and inhuman treatment.

In a statement issued in Srinagar today (Saturday), he expressed deepconcern over the miserable plight of the detainees and said that they wereshifted to jails out of occupied Kashmir for a political vendetta.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik,in a statement in Srinagar said that the repression unleashed on theKashmiri prisoners was indicative of undemocratic attitude of the puppetauthorities.

Member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, in astatement in Srinagar said that he was not allowed to meet the prisonerslodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.
