France, Germany to work with Russia for cessation of Syrian hostilities

France and Germany have expressed readiness to work with Russia and their European partners to realize cessation of hostilities in Syria.

This was stated at a joint statement issued by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angel Merkel following their telephonic talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Macron and Merkel called on Russia to exert maximum pressure on Syrian government to immediate stop bombing and to implement the UN resolution without delay.

Meanwhile, at least twenty-five people including seven children have been killed in an air strikes in eastern parts of the country.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said strikes were conducted on and around village of Al-Shaafah, north of the former IS bastion of Albu Kamal near the border with Iraq.

On the other hand, the U.N chief said it is high time to stop this carnage in the mbattled eastern Ghouta region and appealed the warrning sides to abide by a ceasefire.APP/AFP
