Are Pakistan – India heading towards a bigger standoff at LoC yet again

ISLAMABAD- The government of Azad Kashmir has readied evacuation plan torelocate locals to safer areas due to recent “provocation” by Indian forcesat the Line of Control (LoC), a media report said on Sunday.

The decision has been taken amid no let-up in LoC ceasefire violations bythe Indian forces in the recent days.

Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has directed the district machinery andlocal authorities in the areas located along LoC to make standbyarrangements for relocating thousands of people whose lives have come underdirect threat after the tension at border, the paper reported.

On a small-scale, the public in the villages directly affected by the LoCfiring have been relocated. Further the evacuation activities would beextended to the sector-level if LoC ceasefire violations did not stop, thepaper said.

“The instances of ceasefire violations by the Indian forces recorded analarming increase since the start of the month February” following whichthe government has readied evacuation plan.

Last week, Haider instructed authorities to give state funerals to thosekilled due to alleged firing by Indian troops across the Line of Control.
