NEW DELHI – In a new twist Indian government instead of redressingPakistan’s concerns over the diplomats harassment in New Delhi has levelledallegations against Pakistan.

Indian High Commission in Pakistan is facing many issues, Indian officialshave said.

We’ve reached out through established diplomatic channels to Islamabad. Wewant that our Commission in Islamabad functions smoothly, the officials arenot harassed, their work is not obstructed and that the Vienna Conventionof Diplomatic Relations, 1961 is abided by,” Ministry of ExternalAffairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said at a press briefing.

The MEA also underplayed Islamabad’s decision to summon its top diplomat inIndia back home for consultations following allegations of harassment ofPakistani diplomatic staff in New Delhi.

Expressing his surprise that such an issue was being raised, Kumar claimedthat Pakistani High Commissioner to India Sohail Mehmood’s return to hishomeland was a routine matter and not a “recall”, an action which wouldsignify a massive fracture in bilateral ties between the two nations.
