Newly elected Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani may land into troubles

ISLAMABAD – Newly-elected Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani lands intotroubles days after assuming charge of the office.

Sanjrani has been challenged in the Supreme Court for being too young forbecoming acting President.

Newly elected Chariman Senate is just 40 years of age and to becomePresident, constitution has age limit of minimum 45 years.

According to Article 41 of the constitution, the Chairman Senate becomesthe acting President during elections and the required age for thePresident is minimum 45 years whereas Sadiq Sanjrani is 40 years old.

The application adopts that Sadiq Sanjrani becoming acting president wouldcreate a constitutional crisis, therefore he may be barred from assumingcharge of the acting president.

Last week, independent candidate from Balochistan, backed by jointopposition Sadiq Sanjrani won Senate election for chairmanship with as manyas 57 votes against Raja Zafar-ul-Haq’s 46 on Monday.

The Chairman Senate was born in 1978 on April 14 in Nok Kundi area of theprovince. He began his political career in 1998 by serving as coordinatorof the then premier, former head of PML-N Nawaz Sharif in Balochistan untilcoup in 1999.
