PARIS – A French court sentenced two-year imprisonment each to two flightstewards of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) for heroin possession.
After the imprisonment, the two flight stewards Tanveer Gulzar and AmirMoeen will be deported. The court has also barred both the suspects fromvisiting France for five years.
The*link>*incidentoccured on March 10 when the French authorities detained the two flightstewards for being in possession of heroin worth millions of rupees.
Both were also suspended by PIA after initiating departmental inquiryagainst them.
It is pertinent to mention that this was not the first attempt to smuggleillegal drugs using similar means. The incident comes as several cases haveemerged of narcotics being recovered from flights originating from Pakistan.
