ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s arms imports from USA have plummeted by massive 76pcduring the period of 2013-17, reported Stockholm International ResearchPeace Research Institute (SIPRI).
According to details, Pakistan accounted for 2.7pc of global arms importsduring the aforementioned period.
The main reason behind plummeting imports from USA is growing tensionsbetween the two allies against the backdrop of Afghanistan issue.During the same period, China’s weapons exports to Pakistan augmented byhealthy 35pc and the latter remained biggest buyer of Chinese-made weapons.
The SIPRI report stated that India—Pakistan’s arch nemesis—remained thehighest imported of the weapons, accounting 12pc of the global armsimports. India’s arms imports witnessed a massive surge of 24pc in 2013-17.
During the same period, Pakistan’s imports plummeted by 36pc.
