ISLAMABAD- Foreign Office summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P.Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indianforces along the Line of Control in Nikial Sector on Saturday.
According to Foreign Office, the latest Ceasefire violation resulted in theshahadat of a thirty years old woman and injuries to her three sisters.
Director General South Asia and SAARC Dr Muhammad Faisal said deliberatetargeting of civilian populated areas is deplorable and contrary to humandignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws.
He underscored that the ceasefire violations by India are a threat toregional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
The Director General urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 CeasefireAgreement, investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations,instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spiritand maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
He asked the Indian side to permit UN Military Observer Group in India andPakistan to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Councilresolutions.
In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 900 ceasefireviolations so far on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary,resulting in the shahadats of twenty one innocent civilians and injuries toninety others.
