ISLAMABAD – The first unit of 969 MW Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project,located in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), will start supplying 470 MW to thenational grid on 13th of next month.
Official sources told APP that water filling in head race tunnel hasalready been commenced, followed by wet commissioning test in order tostart generation.
The head race tunnel is a component of 52 kilometer long water way systemof the project that has been constructed underground in the high mountainareas to divert water from the water reservoir to the power house of theproject.
Annual benefits of the project has been estimated 50 billion rupees.
