BEIJING – All-weather partnership and the defence and military cooperationbetween China and Pakistan would help maintain regional and internationalpeace and security, Ren Guoqiang, spokesperson of the Chinese ministry ofnational defence said on Thursday.
“China and Pakistan share an all-weather partnership. We have maintained avery high level of defence and military exchange and cooperation,” he saidwhile responding to a question put up by APP Correspondent during hismonthly briefing held here.
The spokesperson expressed the confidence that China-Pakistan militaryexchange and cooperation will help facilitate state to state cooperationbetween the two countries.
“At the same time, I am very confident that our military exchange andcooperation will help to facilitate our state to state relationship.” RenGuoqiang said this exchange and cooperation will also maintain regional andinternational peace and stability.
Regarding military exchanges and joint exercises between the two countriesin future, he said both the countries have been discussing it.
It may be mentioned that China and Pakistan air forces has conducted ajoint training exercise “Shaheen VI” in China in September last year.
Pakistan Air Force dispatched JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and early warningaircraft to participate in the exercise.Chinese J-11 fighters, JH-7 fighter-bombers, KJ-200 AWACS aircraft andground forces including surface-to-air missile and radar troops took partin that exercise.
Pakistan’s Naval Ship PNS SAIF also visited a port in Shanghai andparticipated in a joint naval exercise with the ChineseNavy in Decemberlast year. -APP
