ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court has given thirty day deadline to authoritiesconcerned to bring back Pakistan’s former Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani.
The directions were given during hearing of the memogate case by a threemember bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan JusticeSaqib Nisar, in Islamabad today (Wednesday).
Foreign and Interior Secretaries also appeared before the bench.
Earlier this year the Supreme Court (SC) resumed the hearing of theMemogate case the Chief Justice of Pakistan said they will summon HusainHaqqani to face the charges against him.
This development came as a three-judge bench headed by CJP Mian Saqib Nisarheard the petitions for granting right of vote to overseas Pakistanis inthe upcoming general elections 2018.
The Memogate controversy revolves around a memorandum allegedly drafted byAmbassador Haqqani at the behest of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardariand addressed to US Admiral Mike Mullen.
