Matric, FA Exams: New examination system under consideration in Pakistan

*ISLAMABAD:* Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has directed the Ministryof Education and Professional Training to form a central testing service tohold and regulate the matriculation and intermediate examinations.

According to a *media reportlink>*,PM Abbasi proposed the need for such a testing body while chairing theTuesday’s Council of Common Interests (CCI) *meetinglink>*,where chief ministers of the four provinces were present among others.

The premier expressed concerns over a great number of examination boards inthe country, according to a council member. He suggested to centralise thesecondary and higher secondary level examinations without which thestandardisation of the education system is not possible.

“This sprawling trend of boards will harm the harmonisation in education inthe country at the secondary and a higher secondary level,” the premiersaid.

He added, “We must have a uniform system of examinations in the country asalready we have dozens of boards spread across the country.”

The PM asked Minister for Federal Education and Professional TrainingsBalighur Rehman to make a proposal after consultation with all stakeholdersin this regard. He directed him to work on a national level testing servicewhich will hold and regulate the exams.
