Indian Army s new mission along borders with Pakistan

NEW DELHI – An officer of the Central Industrial Security Force has saidthat the Indian Army is training CISF soldiers to identify drones ofPakistani and Chinese origin in order to boost aviation security, *HindustanTimeslink>* reported.

In accordance with the plans, a six-day session was held in Gopalpur lastmonth, and more sessions are planned across the country in the coming weeks.

According to the India publication, more than 50 cases of unidentifiedflying objects have been reported from New Delhi alone, with officialsunable to identify any of the sightings.

“The involvement with the army will help us not only in detection andidentification of the drone but also tell us how to neutralise it. Theycall it Remotely Piloted Aerial System and during training, various typesof drones were displayed,” a CISF officer told the *Hindustan Times*.

“Those assembled in India and neighbouring countries are different and howto spot them was part of the training,” he added.

The aviation authority in India has also drafted laws which allow the useof drones with certain restrictions and is also studying the use of radartechnology to detect them.

“There is focus on neutralising the flying object but we must first be ableto detect it. So far, it is detected through naked eye but never traced (toits origin nation),” said a CISF officer at New Delhi airport.

“World over, there is a separate radar for detection of drones or any othersmall flying objects, which should be the priority for us too,” he furtherelaborated further.

The ministry is also testing technologies to capture drones.

“We have already tested technologies that can capture them or block thecommunication system. Another technology which will be displayed (at futuretraining sessions) would be on how to trace the operator of the illegaldrone,” said a ministry official.
