WASHINGTON – Special Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and EconomicAffairs Miftah Ismail said that much work has been done on the reportregarding Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
In an interview to US TV, he told that the report will be submitted in FATFbetween March 23 and 25.
Miftah maintained that the government has a policy choice while Pakistanwill not need to further reduce the value of rupee.
“Many economic activities will happen in the country next year. New bondswill also be introduced in China and international market at the end ofyear,” said the adviser.
Talking about FATF grey list Miftah said that no one will be allowed tofinancially assist the terrorists.
Pakistan’s name was placed in FATF’s grey list but faces no threat of beingincluded in the black category.
The global money-laundering watchdog decided to place Pakistan back on itsterrorist financing watchlist, in a likely blow to both Pakistan’s economyand its strained relations with the United States. Pakistan will beincluded in the list in June this year, sources told.
