LAHORE – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has responded to the SupremeCourt verdict disqualifying him for the life time.

He said on Friday that the recent verdict by the supreme court- whichsealed his parliamentary political career for life – was well expected,adding that he was being subjected to victimisation.

In an informal conversation with party loyalists after offering the Fridayprayers, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz ‘Quaid for life’ instructed hisparty workers to face the situation with tolerance and restraint.

On the occasion, the former lawmaker mixed up with the public amid aboisterous environment with slogans in his favour, however, the elderSharif informed the audience that they should wait for his call.

‘We have been obstructed in past as well but we resisted it. Such decisionsimply that I am a target of the top court,’ he affirmed.

The three-time prime minister concluded his conversation by saying thatsuch type of verdicts fails to deprive masses of their elected leadership.

Let it be known that a five-member bench of the top court headed by ChiefJustice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, JusticeUmar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah voted5-0 in favour of lifetime disqualification for lawmakers disqualified underarticle 62 (1) (f) of the constitution.

The top court had reserved the verdict after hearings on February 14thafter clubbing as many as 17 petitions.
