NAB cases against Sharif family likely to be prolonged for another two months: Sources

ISLAMABAD – The NAB cases against Sharif family are likely to be prolongedfor another two to three months as Accountability court on Tuesday hassubmitted a plea seeking extension in trial duration of NationalAccountability Bureau (NAB) references against Sharif family in SupremeCourt (SC).

NAB judge Justice Mohammad Bashir has said that the matter of 342 statementwill be reviewed after the decision of top court.

Earlier, SC had extended the deadline for accountability court to completeits probe into references against Sharif family for two more months.

During the hearing, NAB prosecutor Imran-ul-Haq had assured the court thattwo months will be enough for references of Sharif family.

It is to be mentioned here that Justice Muhammad Bashir role as theaccountability judge was also extended for another three years afterPresident Mamnoon Hussain’s approval.

“In exercise of powers conferred by Section 5 (g) and (h) of NationalAccountability Ordinance, 1999, the President of Islamic Republic ofPakistan has been pleased to appoint Mr. Muhammad Bashir, District andSessions Judge (BS 21) as a Judge Accountability Court-I, Islamabad in hisown pay and scale on deputation basis for further period of three yearsw.e.f. 10-03-2018 to 12.03.2021 or until further order, whichever isearlier,” states a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
