LAHORE: The prime suspect arrested in failed assignation bid on InteriorMinister Ahsan Iqbal has said in initial interrogation that he isaffiliated with Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya Rasoolah (TLYR) and targeted theinterior minister was an easy target as he belonged to the same area.
Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, who was shot in the arm on Sunday eveningduring a rally in Narowal and later the police, arrested the main suspectidentified as Abid Hussain.
During interrogation Abid Hussain confessed to the crime, saying he hadbought the weapon used in the incident from a local after scraping togetherRs15,000.
Punjab Government Spokesperson Malik Ahmed said the attack is equivalent toan assault on the peace of the entire country.
He added that in case of security negligence, the guilty person will not bespared.
