Pakistan Foreign Secretary forcefully raises Kashmir issue in OIC FM Conference

DHAKA : Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua has called for urgent attention ofthe international community and especially the Organization of IslamicCooperation for responding to the humanitarian needs of people in OccupiedKashmir, Rohingya Muslims and Palestinian refugees.

She was addressing the OIC`s Special Session on the “HumanitarianChallenges of the OIC Countries Including those related to the Rohingyas”at the 45th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Dhaka.

She condemned the brutal killings of innocent Kashmiris as well as use ofpellet guns resulting in the complete loss of eye sight of many Kashmiris.She referred to the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir as dire.

She referred to the situation in IoK as dire, seekingurgent attention of the international community and especially the OIC forresponding to the humanitarian needs of the Kashmiri people in IoK.

She said that Pakistan deeply values the OIC’s consistent support for therealization of the inalienable right of the Kashmiri people toself-determination. The people of Jammu and Kashmir draw strength from theOIC’s consistent support for their just cause. The geopolitical changes andglobal realignments can not deter the brave Kashmiri people from pursuingtheir legitimate rights.

The head of Pakistani delegation said that the adoption of OIC resolutionson Kashmir during this session will be another reminder of the urgency forresolution of the dispute in accordance with UN Security Councilresolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. A fair and justresolution of this internationally recognized dispute and immediate halt tothe suppression of human rights of the Kashmiris is essential to fosteringsustainable peace in South Asia and beyond.

The Foreign Secretary highlighted the human rights violations againstRohingya Muslims and reiterated Pakistan’s support to ease the miseries andhumanitarian challenges being faced by these innocent people. She alsoapplauded the OIC and Bangladesh for extending support and hospitality toRohingyas.
