KARACHI – A dozen Indian fishermen, who were stranded in the Arabian Seafor eight days, have been rescued by Pakistan Navy on Sunday.
According to the navy spokesperson, the Indian boat ‘ST Mars’ got strandedwith engine failure with 12 fishermen on board.
The fishermen sent calls for help, following which teams of the navyreached out to them on humanitarian grounds.
They were rescued by the PNS Alamgir and were also provided edibles andmedical treatments, the spokesman said, adding that the PNS technical teamalso repaired the boat’s engine.
The Indian fisherman thanked the Pakistan Navy and chanted “PakistanZindabad” slogans.
The navy said in a statement that the country’s naval forces are determinedto ensure welfare of humanity and that such a gesture only solidifiesPakistan’s stance for maintenance of peace in the region.
