Federal government presents Budget 2018 – 19 amid opposition walkout

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) unveiled the sixthbudget for fiscal year 2018-19, with an outlay of Rs5.5 trillion.

Federal Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail started the budget speech withthe slogans of ‘shame, shame’ from the opposition.

He said that they faced several challenges under the leadership of NawazSharif. “Today’s budget is reflection of the vision of Nawaz Sharif,” hesaid.

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah announced tostage the walkout from the House over the issue of presenting the budget byan elected person. “The next government will have the power to amend thebudget,” he said.

The PTI MNAs tore the budget copies in front of the dais of the speaker.

The opposition members also chanted the slogans of ‘respect the voter’.

During the speech, State Minister for Power Abid Sher Ali exchanged hotwords with PTI MNA Shireen Mizari.
