ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has urged all parties of Iran nuclear deal, also knownas the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to uphold the agreement.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Faisal while responding to aquestion at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday said thataccording to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Iran hascomplied with the provisions of the JCPOA.
“We hope that all the parties of the agreement would uphold it,” he added.
He went on to say that Pakistan had supported the Iran nuclear deal, whenit was signed. “We also urged all parties to implement the agreement,” hesaid.
To another question Muhammad Faisal said the U.S. Department of State’sSenior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian AffairsAmbassador Alice Wells visited Pakistan.
He added that the visit was part of regular engagement between the twocountries on bilateral and regional cooperation.
To a question, he said that there is no military solution to Afghan crisis.Muhammad Faisal said that Pakistan has been consistently emphasizing on anAfghan-led Afghan-owned dialogue process for peace in that country.“Political solution is the best way forward,” the official believed.
In his opening remarks the spokesperson said that Foreign Minister KhawajaMuhammad Asif visited Beijing to attend the meeting of Council of ForeignMinisters (CFM) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) from 23-24April, 2018. The Council of Foreign Ministers discussed issues related topeace and security at the international and regional levels and promotionof cooperation between the member states.
He said the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who isvisiting Russia, met with Colonel General Oleg Salyukov, Commander ofRussian Federation Ground Forces at Kremlin Palace.
“The Russian Ground Forces Commander acknowledged achievements of PakistanArmy in the fight against terrorism and contributions for regional peaceand stability. Russian Ground Forces Commander said that Pakistan is ageo-strategically important country and Russia is keen to expand itsexisting bilateral military to military cooperation,” he said.
