BCCI hits out at Shahid Afridi, wants PCB to take action against him: Report

NEW DELHI – *The Indian cricket board has hit out at Pakistan cricketsuperstars Shahid Afridi and Hasan Ali over the duo recent behavior, whichthe board believes was ‘disrespectful’** towards India as a country.*

The BCCI official lashed out at Afridi and Ali, while requesting PakistanCricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi to ‘deal with the issue of therecent misbehavior.’

“I would request Sethi to sternly deal with the issue of the recentmisbehavior of the Pakistani cricketer in showing disrespect towards Indiaas a country and other indiscriminate actions and words by formercricketers that do nothing to promote the right atmosphere for cricket. Ido hope they at least understand the concept of a ‘gentleman’,” said theBCCI official said, quoted *Cricket Next*.

Ali was seen walking up to the Pakistani soldier in the middle of theAttari-Wagah border flag-lowering ceremony. He then imitated the Rangers, patted his thigh and raised his arm, before replicating his signaturecelebratory move, while gesturing to the Indian soldiers.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Afridi had recently took to Twitter andurged the United Nations to intervene in the Indian Occupied Kashmir overthe recent wave of violence in the region.

Furthermore, in a bid to explain the current scenario to Sethi, the BCCIofficial said that the Indian cricket board is bound by the laws of Indiaover the issue of playing with Pakistan.

“In an ideal world, we would host Pakistan in India and visit Pakistan toplay there. Our willingness thus exceeds the willingness of PCB it appears, when we talk only of willingness. However, firstly Sethi must understandthat BCCI does not decide the policies of the Government of India, just theway PCB does not decide the policies of the Government of Pakistan. We arean Indian organisation that is bound by the laws of India and we have tocomply with them, it is not a card for us but a legal necessity,” the BCCIofficial said.
