ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah has said that there was norestriction on the gender of the candidate for the interim PM. It could bea male or female, he said.

His hint has strengthened the speculation circulating in the media thatMaleeha Lodhi can be the candidate for the slot of interim PM. She enjoysthe credibility with both the mainstream parties and the militaryestablishment.

Earlier it was reported that Government and opposition parties have reacheda consensus on the nomination of caretaker Prime Minister.

The name will be announced on Tuesday, May 22.

The caretaker prime minister will take charge shortly after thegovernment’s term comes to an end on May 31.

The channel quoted sources saying that a consultation session was held tofinalize the names proposed for the top slot.

In addition to the caretaker PM, two sides also held consultations aboutthe nomination of chief ministers.

In response to a question if the caretaker prime minister is from a smallerprovince, opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah said that answering thequestion would ‘disclose everything.’

He further said it was not necessary that one of the candidates beingdiscussed on the media was the one finalized for the position.
