ISLAMABAD – The corruption reference against Nawaz Sharif family hasreached final stage

The accountability court has decided to record statement of ex-primeminister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and Captain (r) Safdar inAvenfield reference on Wednesday.

During the hearing headed by Justice Mohammad Bashir, Panama JointInvestigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia has completed his statement.

He told the court that Hill Metal Establishment earned 9.9 million dollarprofit during 2010 to 2017 while Nawaz Sharif received 8.9 million dollarfrom the company during 2010 to 2015.

Bank account details show that Hussain Nawaz gave 88 percent profit toNawaz Sharif, he added.

Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris will cross-examine Wajid Zia onWednesday.

Earlier, Zia said that UAE refused to verify the claim of Sharif family.The government rejected the statement of selling 25 percent shares of GulfSteel Mills, he added.

The JIT head said that Nawaz’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz submitted fakedocuments regarding sources of business funds, adding Hussain Nawaz saidthat scrap of the factory was shifted after loading in 50 trucks.
