SRINAGAR – A constable was killed in a suspected militant attack on apolice post in occupied Kashmir on Friday.
The militants allegedly opened fire at a security installation at Wardwanin Budgam district, where a few families of the minority community live. “Apoliceman succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack,” said an officialat the Budgam police control room.
Sources said snatching weapons seemed to be the motive behind the attack.
The slain policeman was identified as Shameem Ahmad, a constable. Policespokesperson said, adding that the area was cordoned immediately after theincident.
Last month, suspected militants took four rifles from policemen deputed ata checkpost in Hyderpora.
