LAHORE: The Social Studies book being taught at a private school has beenbanned by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) for printing thewrong map of Pakistan.
According to a report by a local media, the PCTB managing director hasissued a notification to ban the books. Moreover, the books have been citedas ‘controversial and objectionable’ and a complaint has been lodged toregister a case against the administration of the school, publisher andproducer of the said books.
The notification issued by PCTB stated that the books on social studies forclasses 2, 4, 5, 7 and 8, being taught at a private school, havecontroversial and objectionable content, especially with reference to themap of Pakistan.
The PCTB has also directed that the books must not be used as textbooks,supplementary reading material, reference or guidebooks etc at any level.It said the matter is to be treated as urgent and strict compliance must beensured.
