Indian Army camp attacked with grenades in occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR – Militants on Tuesday evening attacked an Indian Army camp inHajin area of Bandipora in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. According to newsagency ANI, at least four to six militants stormed the Army camp from twosides. They attacked the camp of Rashtriya Rifles and Hajin police station.

The militants reportedly fired around eight rounds using UnderbarrelGrenade Launcher towards army and police personnel. They carried out theattack around 8.30 pm.

The fire was retaliated “heavily and effectively”, a senior police officersaid, adding that it was not a suicide attack. The area has been cordonedoff and combing operations have been started, the officer said.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police posted on Twitter: “Standoff firing bymilitants on security forces at Hajin. Retaliated by security forces.Combing of the area is going on.” And around 15 minutes later, anothertweet said, “Firing at Hajan has stopped. Area is being searched. No lossof life and property reported.”
